1What do I need to bring?
When packing, bear in mind that during the day, you will be in either swimming gear or light clothes and that during the evening when we go ashore, shorts and a polo-shirt are fine for the gents and similar for the ladies. It may also be an idea to bring a jumper or sweatshirt and a light windproof jacket, in case the wind gets up whilst we are at sea. As for what footwear to bring, we suggest deck shoes or trainers with non-marking soles and activity sandals.
Nexus has a professional sailing/chartering license and is insured according to the stipulations of Greek law. However, as in any holiday situation, we recommend you take out a suitable travel insurance policy that covers you and your possessions whilst onboard Nexus (note that not all travel policies include sailing so, to be on the safe side, please do check the wording of your policy carefully before you leave the UK).
Charter cost does not include provisioning. To assist in your planning, we offer a pre-provisioning service where, upon receipt of your list, we will purchase the items at a nearby competitively priced supermarket and have them stowed ready for your arrival. We will then provide you with a detailed receipt for settlement before departure. Alternatively, we can provide transport to a local supermarket so you can purchase your own provisions – although this will obviously delay your departure.
When you arrive at Athens El. Venizelos International Airport, please make your way to the taxi rank and ask the taxi driver for Voula Yacht Club (N.A.O.B.). The cost of the taxi is approximately €30 (please note that this is not included in the cost of your charter). Alternatively, take the E96 bus from the airport and ask for Voula Yacht Club. The required bus stop for our Yacht Club is GALINI. Then you cross the main road carefully and the masts are clearly in view. On arrival at the Voula Yacht Club, we will meet you at the entrance and escort you round to Nexus’ permanent berth. After some dockside introductions and a quick run-down on the yacht’s “Do’s and Don’ts”, you will be shown around the yacht and be invited to stow your luggage before a welcome drink and a full safety-at-sea briefing. After that, we’re on our way!
5Safety Whilst Onboard?
- Drink plenty of Water! There is always a bottle of chilled water on deck for your use.
- Use the Awning! Nexus is fitted with awnings over the cockpit areas so please do use them!
- Alcohol! Whilst under way, in the interests of your safety, the skipper advises against more than the occasional alcoholic drink. However, after safely berthing for the night, your alcohol intake becomes entirely your decision and responsibility!
